Sathankulam : Two businessmen, namely father and son, were brought to the Tuticorin district and sathankulam, police said. It has been decided that the Tamil Nadu business associations will hold a full strike on Wednesday to demand compensation from the Tamil Nadu government’s families.
They urged the guards to take drastic measures. The DGP has claimed that if the anatomy report is to be proven by tomorrow, the murder charge will be registered. In addition, the government has taken action to demand that the video be recorded and autopsied in the presence of doctors, businessmen and the judge.
On June 19, when Jayaraj was in the mobile phone showroom of his son Bennix, the Sattankulam police picked him up for allegedly keeping the shop open in the evening in violation of lockdown restrictions. As the police reportedly verbally abused Jayaraj and assaulted him, his son Bennix, who came to the spot, appealed to the police to release his father.
When the police allegedly assaulted Jayaraj with a baton and roughed him up, Bennix tried to save his father. After thrashing the father and the son, the officers took them to the police station.
Speaking to reporters, Thoothukudi district collector Sandeep Nanduri said two sub-inspectors have been suspended in connection with the incident. “We have ordered a probe. The autopsy of the two bodies will take place at the Tirunelveli Medical College and Hospital in front of the Judicial magistrate. All the police officers in the Sathankulam police station will be transferred,” he said.
“Jayaraj and Bennix were thrashed again after they were taken to the police station, even as some of us were witnessing it from the entrance of the police station,” said their relatives.
Many shops have been shut down in Chennai to condemn the death of father and son businessmen in the devil pond. A large number of shops in Perambur and Chulai are closed from 6 am to 2 pm. This includes shops selling essential essentials, including groceries, vegetables and paper, merchants said.
