The Indian government today released a list of districts in green, orange, zones ahead of the scheduled end of lockdown on May 3. Amid the steady rise in the number of cases, the government has said that the country is on the path of winning the war against the highly infectious disease and that the next few weeks will be decisive. With the countrywide lockdown scheduled to end on May 3, PM Narendra Modi-led Union government is expected to announce new guidelines to be implemented from May 4.
Chief Ministers of many states have advised the Central government to extend the lockdown period so that coronavirus curve gets flattened. However, states like Punjab and West Bengal announced a slew of relaxation measures in the states. Meanwhile, researchers around the world and in India have been working on Corona virus COVID-19 vaccine as people are eagerly waiting for the good news soon.
Speaking to, Secretary said. “We held a detailed discussion with medical experts, public representatives and others in view of the current COVID-19 situation. And we have decided that the lockdown will be extended in the district for another 10 to 20 days after May 3.”
“We have controlled the situation in the city after a lot of hard work, and it has improved by at least 70 per cent now. The lockdown needs to be extended here to normalize the situation completely,” Singh added.
He said instructions have been given to officials in the administration that the lock down must be implemented strictly and violators should be arrested.
“We will not tolerate lockdown violations. Curfew is already in force in Indore city. Therefore, no separate order is required to extend its duration,” the collector said.
He said the good news was the the number of new cases was falling while that of people getting discharged after recovery was climbing.
