Famous folk singer Deshraj Batteria passed away on September 5. He suffered a heart attack and died. He is 67 years old.

Pandit Deshraj Pateriya, called the folkloric emperor of Bundelkhand, was born on 25 July 1953 in the village of Tindani in Chhatarpur district. He was the youngest of four brothers and two sisters. After passing higher secondary, he earned Prabhakar degree in music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti. Meanwhile, Pandit Shri Pateria’s job was engaged in Health Department.

Deshraj Batteria, proudly celebrated in Bundelkhand, is one of the most famous and ancient names in Bundelkhand folk music. He breathed his last at his home in Madhya Pradesh.

Famous singer Bundeli is proud to have popularized folk music across the country. He also expressed his identity abroad. He was instrumental in making Bundeli folk songs unique through radio.

Deshraj Pateriya used to live more in folk songs. That is why he used to work in the day and participate in the Bundeli folk songs at night. In the year 1972, he started singing folk songs from the stage.

But in the year 1976, Chhatarpur Akashwani gave him real identity. When his folklore started airing from Akashvani, his identity in Bundelkhand gradually began to grow.
